Philosophy and Motorcycles

Philosophy and motorcycles are two of my favorite things in life. This blog will be bits of wisdom gleaned from a misspent youth and an adventurous dotage. People who like/love wisdom or motorcycles, classic or modern versions of either, are welcome to visit and comment.

Greenspin

Greenspan said that he is now sad that the financial institutions were not able to govern themselves. I wonder if he would advocate an end to traffic laws because, after all, drivers can govern themselves. Maybe if we deregulated drugs people would monitor and govern themselves. They certainly wouldn't consume things known to be harmful, would they? If we de-criminalized rape it would encourage people to take responsibility for their own actions and rape would be eliminated because obviously no one would take advantage of that lack of regulation to satisfy carnal urges that are reprehensible. Men are naturally caring and considerate animals excepted when taunted by unfair laws, right? Now I don't want to get off on a rant here but just how damn dumb are these morons. Even a burnt and blunted old reprobate from the mid-west can tell that "there was a fundamental flaw in the model of how the world works" regarding deregulation of banks. Where were they when the savings and loan associations were looted? You just don't leave Freddie Kruger to guard the kindergarten. The idea that bankers would give a damn about anyone but themselves ranks about 9.8 on my weird crapometer. If ever there was a group of people to compete with lawyers for scum de jour it would be big bankers and wall street brokers. While they're pulling out faster than an evangelist in a raided brothel they're loading gilded lifeboats with our money. The sad part of this debacle is that not one of these corporadoes will spend his final days hanging in a crow cage. Instead they're using our stolen money to hire lobbyists to buy votes to get rid of the estate tax. Theft of that magnitude should be a capital crime, punishable by death. Of course, these are just my thoughts. I'm not a financial "expert" like Greenspin.
