Uncommon Sense

As any competent psychologist or social worker will tell you there is, of course, a connection between the vitriol spewed by radio and TV personalities and the actions of crazy people. Does calling for the hunting and execution of liberals directly cause people to go crazy? No it doesn't. Does it inspire the already unhinged to commit acts of violence. Certainly. Those who suggest or demand that people of some other political belief should be hunted and killed are guilty of terroristic activities and should be imprisoned. If a local person said that a local politician, judge or policeman should be killed for his beliefs they would be in jail before the sun set that day. On a national level it has become acceptable and popular to demonize those of a different belief. Liberals are guilty of it also but it is primarily the loud voices of major right wing pundits who shout these insane ideas. I believe in free speech. Yelling fire in a crowded theater, or shouting, or writings that advocate murder, and which inspire and encourage the deranged are not free speech. They are the kinds of utterances which carry a huge price, the death of innocents. Even Charles Manson did not personally kill anyone. He encouraged unstable people to do it, and they did. He is now and will remain in prison.

We the people, of all parties and persuasions must not encourage violence. Christ did not shout for violence. He "showed them the error of their ways." We could all learn something from Him.
